Taronga Zoo - Sydney

08/08/2013

No better way to approach this Zoo but by ferry from Cicular Quay with a back drop of Sydney's Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. I have visited this Zoo twice. Half a day in 2007 and a full day in 2009. There were so many new exhibits on my second visit. Last time I checked their website they had Sleepovers - how cool! Waking up to the sounds of roaring Lions and the views of Sydney CBD.

This Zoo provides a great introdution to most of the Australian fauna. Adorable Koalas (professional photos available), kangaroos, wombats, emus, wallabies, just to name a few. There are so many activities - I recommend the Seal Show and also the Free Flight Bird Show.

Animal welfare is top class, Zookeepers were really caring and knowledgeable. If any criticism I found some cages small. Overall this Zoo is good value for money. 4.5/5

Why zootrotters?

I love the idea of travelling the world. Meet other cultures, experience something new, it's a hobbie of mine. I love animals both in their natural habitat and in Zoos. Travelling the world and visiting Zoos came naturally. Whether it's a big city Zoo or a regional one I make time for a visit.

I have no formal education on Animal Welfare or Zoo management. Zoos provide an important educational part of my animal knowledge.

This Blog will feature Zoo reviews, funny stories and facts about Zoos and their residents.

A very important part of this site is photography.
